Festive Gingerbread House

This house I made with my 6-year-old. Why not make one with your children?
Gingerbread House Recipe
300g Butter
125g Caster Sugar
125g Brown Sugar
225g Golden Syrup
Melt these ingredients together in a saucepan
725g Plain Flour
2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
3 tsp Ground Ginger
Sieve these ingredients into a large mixing bowl
Make a well in the centre of the dry mix, add the melted syrup mix. Mix together to form a dough. Wrap in Clingfilm and refrigerate until cool (approximately 30 mins).
Cut out the sides, ends and roof of your house out of paper. Roll the dough out onto greaseproof paper. Place each side of your house over the dough and with a sharp knife cut the shapes right through the greaseproof paper.
Note: If your dough becomes dry or crumbly, add a tiny amount of cold water to form back into a dough that will be easier to roll.
Carefully place each side of the house onto a baking tray, keeping the greaseproof paper under the dough. Bake at 180oc for 15 to 20 mins. Cool on a wire rack.
500g Icing Sugar
2 egg whites
Mix together to form an edible glue
Once cool, with a piping bag, glue each side of your house together with your edible glue, using a glass to hold the sides up until dry.
Finish off with a decoration of smarties, dolly mixtures, or any other treats you might like to add. Glue them on with the rest of your edible glue.
A fantastic Christmas traditional gingerbread house to make & enjoy with your children.
