"The cake received lots of comment, because it was so unusual. I was tempted to claim that I had made it myself but in the end did confess you had made it on my behalf! In particular people loved the writing that you had piped onto the board, because that made it very personal, and everyone thought the little peas were ever so cute. I suppose in an ideal world we would have had more time to agree a particular design and I could have shown you some pictures, but because I had left it so late that wasn't possible. It was excellent that you were so flexible and came up with a design so close to the one in my head with so little guidance, and that you could fit us in at short notice. I'm not sure how busy you are but it's well worth advertising yourself as a 'short notice emergency cake' service! Also it was fantastic to be able to say to the mums "yes it's a carrot cake but there's no nuts in it" - I think a lot of people like reassurance that allergies can be catered for. You were right, it did still taste delicious. And finally I was pleased to be able to report that your kitchen seemed spotless. With a cake from a bakers you always wonder what things look like behind the scenes…"
